Camping ChairsCAMP FURNITURESELECT A PRODUCT SUB-TYPEIt’s safe to say, camping chairs aren’t just for camping these days. Though I’m sure the intended use of a canvas folding chair was developed with camping in mind, manufacturers of camping chairs have taken our needs into consideration and produced durable, light weight, travel friendly, comfortable chairs that fit all the activities that we participate in. I know this because my camping chair goes with me to the beach, it tail gates at sporting events, it’s the extra chair at the party when there aren’t enough seats, and yes, it goes camping with me as well. It has a carrying strap and a pocket in the back for my sun tan lotion or anything else I might need to store, and for me, it’s the perfect chair. When purchasing a camping chair for yourself, weight capacity, safety, and comfort, should be your first concerns. Manufacturers will often list weight capacities anywhere from 200-300 pounds. The more weight required the stronger your chair needs to be. A well made camping chair may have locking systems that supports the aluminum (or steel) joints that you find in most chairs, and fabrics like mesh, nylon, and canvas allow your chair to breath while retaining their durability and strength. Beyond that it is all about you. Do you like a high back or would you prefer a low back? Do you want a foot rest? Do you need a cup holder? TheOutdoorWorld.com, a family owned and operated sporting goods retailer has been outfitting camping enthusiasts for over 30 years, and we sell a wide variety of outdoor chairs. Over the years we have found that people who purchase chairs, whether it be for camping, beach, or stadium, are looking for convenience and comfort above anything else. Of the chairs we stock at TheOutdoorWorld, the most convenient and also the favorite of back packing enthusiasts who like to travel light, is the folding stool. Inexpensive, yet durable and travel friendly. It is the smallest of our folding chairs which makes it the perfect choice for those who need to minimize storage. Also available for those who like to travel light and want comfort and convenience are frameless camp/stadium seats. Padded with adjustable recline, these seats can give picnic benches, stadium bleachers, and concert chairs a luxury box feeling. Stadium seats come in both padded frameless and alloy/steel supported versions. Captain’s chairs, also referred to as director or deck chairs, are the most traditional of the folding chairs. Far more comfortable and roomier than an average lawn chair, the big difference between these chairs and other outdoor chairs is the way they fold from side to side. Therefore, storage, as well as portability, should be a consideration if you choose this type of chair. Camping chairs, also referred to as “quad chairs,” will have a four corner collapsible frame that folds up easily into a compact carrying bag (usually provided by the manufacturer). Most bags will have a strap that will allow you to tote the bag over your shoulder for easy transportation. The price you pay for a camping chair, or a quad chair, may range anywhere from just under $25 to upwards of $50. Though price doesn’t necessarily translate into comfort or convenience when it comes to camping chairs, anyone who has sat around a camp fire knows that spending a little more money for a cup holder, a canopy, or ergonomic back support will go a long way when you are relaxing at the lake, and that a high-quality quad with foot and arm rests will feel hammock-like when you’re gazing at the stars. Regardless of price, a good quad chair will be comfortable, it will be durable, and it will be travel friendly. Beach Chairs, also called sand chairs, usually sit lower to the ground - or in this case the sand and come in many colors. These are great all around chairs; light and convenient, they travel well and are the perfect go anywhere chair. Beach chairs can range from $15 to $50 and features like adjustable shoulder straps make for easy travel and storage. Lounge chairs, sometimes referred to as “zero gravity chairs,” are the Cadillac of outdoor seating. Spacious and heavy duty they can hold up to 600 pounds of weight. Recommended for RV and SUV travel due to their size and carrying weight, these chairs are built to withstand the elements and support the entire body, thus the feeling of gravity free relaxation.
